How Noordvelt brought past customers back with a card that knew their name
Overview
Noordvelt is a Dutch menswear webshop. Most of its customers ordered once and never came back, and the win-back emails landed in the promotions tab next to every other shop's discount.
Yotru sent those customers a postcard instead: their first name, a thank-you for the earlier order, a 10% code for the next one and a unique QR straight into the shop. We handled design, print and PostNL delivery, and fed every scan back to the team.
The challenge
Noordvelt had a customer list full of people who had ordered once. Win-back emails were opened by few and acted on by fewer, and paid retargeting got more expensive every quarter. The team wanted a nudge that would actually be seen, by people who already knew the brand.
The solution
- Selected customers who had ordered once in the past year and not since.
- Designed a card with the customer's first name, a thank-you line and a 10% code for the next order.
- Put a unique QR on every card, linked to the shop with the code already applied, so each scan and each order traced back to one customer.
- Printed the run and handed it to PostNL through Yotru, so it was on doormats within days.
The result
- 1,200 personal cards delivered to past customers.
- 17% of recipients scanned their unique QR code.
- 113 orders placed with the card's code within five weeks.
- Repeat orders came from customers the email flow had not reached in months.
“Our customers get ten discount emails a day. A card with their own name on the doormat is the one they actually read, and the scans showed us exactly who came back.”

A card that says thank you first
Every card opened with the customer's first name and a thank-you for their earlier order, before it said anything about a discount. It read like a note from the shop, not like another promotion.
The 10% code and the unique QR did the rest: one scan and the customer was back in the shop with the code already applied.

Printed, sorted and handed to PostNL
Noordvelt approved the design once. Yotru printed every personal card, sorted the run and handed it to PostNL, so the cards were on doormats across the Netherlands within days.
No print shop to brief, no postage to arrange, no addresses to export by hand.
Every scan tied to one customer
Because each QR belonged to one customer, Noordvelt could see who scanned, who ordered and who did neither.
That turned the next email from a blast into a short list: only the people who had looked at the card but not yet ordered.
