Common Questions & Objections

How much does B2B direct mail cost in 2027?

Going into 2027, a personalized B2B postcard usually costs about $1 to $3 per piece all-in, depending on volume and how much of the work is done for you. Postage sets the floor: a standard US postcard has cost $0.65 to mail since July 12, 2026. Gifting platforms cost far more per send, because you are shipping an object, not a card.

The Yotru answer

Founders and sales leaders ask us this on almost every first call. The price of B2B direct mail follows three things: who builds the list, who writes and personalizes the copy, and whether tracking is included. A bare print-and-mail service is cheap per piece but leaves the targeting, copy and follow-up to you. A managed campaign costs more per card but includes the work that decides whether anyone responds.

How clients ask it

  • What's a normal price per postcard?
  • Why do quotes range from under a dollar to hundreds of dollars per send?
  • Is it cheaper to just buy stamps and do it ourselves?

What each option usually costs

Planning ranges from published 2026 pricing. These are not quotes, and prices change with postage.

What to plan for in 2027

Budget for postage to keep rising. USPS made three separate pricing changes in 2026, including the July increase that took the postcard rate from $0.61 to $0.65, and rate trackers expect another increase in the first half of 2027. Canada has been steadier: Canada Post left Lettermail rates unchanged in its March 2026 update, after a roughly 25% increase in January 2025.

Cost per piece vs cost per meeting

The ANA/DMA Response Rate Report (2025) puts the average direct mail response rate at 4.4%, with a good result above 2% for cold prospect lists and above 5% for lists of existing customers. At those rates, 500 postcards to a well-chosen list could reasonably produce somewhere between 10 and 22 responses. A response is not a closed deal, and your offer and list quality decide where in that range you land.

How we look at it at Yotru

We publish our pricing because a first campaign shouldn't need a sales call. Before you compare quotes, ask what is actually included. Who builds and checks the list? Is every card personalized, or only the name? Is there a QR code per recipient, so you know who engaged? A low price per piece that leaves those jobs to you is not cheaper once you count your team's time.

Start small. 100 to 500 cards to your best-fit accounts will tell you more than 5,000 cards to a bought list.

What others say

ANA/DMA Response Rate Report. The benchmark most of the industry cites. Mail to existing customers consistently outperforms mail to cold prospect lists, so a first test on your own list gives you a realistic baseline.

Gifting platform reviews (G2, TrustRadius). Users like the experience and the CRM connection. Cost is the recurring complaint, and some reviewers admit it is hard to prove the return on what they send.

Outbound sales analysts. A cost-per-meeting analysis from FirstSales makes the same point we do: mail wins on attention, not on cost or speed, and it is only worth it above a deal size that depends on your own numbers.

Frequently asked questions

On postage, yes. But you also pay for printing, address data, design and tracking, plus your team's time. For a handful of cards it can make sense. Beyond about 100 cards, the time usually costs more than the savings.

Postage alone is about $325 in the US at the $0.65 postcard rate, before printing, data and design. With Yotru, 500 personalized cards cost $700, including design, personalization, a QR code per recipient, print and postage.

We suggest 100 to 500 cards to your best-fit accounts. That is enough to see who engages and how sales follow-up goes, without committing a large budget.

You are paying for a platform plus the items you send, often with the platform fee and send budget billed separately. They suit teams that have already decided gifting is a channel. Postcards suit teams testing physical outreach for the first time.

Usually. In the US, only cards up to 4.25" × 6" get the lowest postcard rate, and bigger cards also cost more to print. Larger cards can earn more attention, so it is a trade-off worth testing.

It depends on what one customer is worth. If a new customer is worth thousands of dollars or more, a small test is usually worth running. If a customer is worth a few hundred dollars, cheaper channels will usually win.
